Synspective Announces Synspective OMNIA, a New Program for Sharing Small SAR Satellite Constellation Capacity
Synspective Inc., a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite data and analytic solutions provider, announced Synspective OMNIA, a new program designed to help customers achieve both decision autonomy and economic efficiency.
Demand for SAR satellite constellations capable of frequent, wide-area observation regardless of weather or time of day is rapidly increasing, particularly in the security and disaster-prevention sectors. Many governments and companies want the freedom to use SAR satellite data and its analytical capabilities securely and on their own terms. At the same time, when a government or company builds and maintains its own satellite system, it faces not only substantial upfront investment and ongoing operations and maintenance costs, but also the inefficiency of observation capacity going unused outside its own areas of interest.
Synspective OMNIA is a flagship program that shares a satellite constellation's capabilities among multiple users. By participating in this program, customers can secure priority observation and data-acquisition rights for specific regions and paths without making a large investment, achieving satellite data use that balances decision autonomy with economic rationality.
Advancing the Construction of a New Constellation in Addition to Its Existing Constellation
Synspective is currently building a constellation of more than 30 satellites under its own StriX series. Separately, this program will involve building a new, dedicated constellation. Combining the two constellations will further increase observation frequency, redundancy, and regional coverage, and will enable more flexible priority access for each customer.
The Value Synspective OMNIA Provides
Optimizing Investment Efficiency and Cost: Under a model where a single operator bears the full cost of building and operating both the satellites and the ground infrastructure while exclusively occupying all of that capacity, customers end up paying for more than they need. Under this program, customers instead own and manage only the data capacity they need for specific regions and paths, while sharing any surplus capacity with other customers. Customers can also purchase shared capacity on an ad hoc basis as needed. This avoids over-investment in unneeded capacity and improves return on investment.
Higher-Frequency Observation and Redundancy: A model in which a customer owns and operates only a small number of satellites limits observation frequency to around a few times a day, which is insufficient for security and disaster-response use cases that require high-frequency observation. A large-scale satellite constellation enables higher-frequency data acquisition on a global scale. In addition, if an individual satellite malfunctions, backup coverage from alternate satellites keeps operations continuous.
Secure Access to the Satellite Constellation: Synspective's technology has earned a high degree of trust, including selection as a data provider by Japan's Ministry of Defense, an organization that requires advanced security standards. For defense and intelligence agencies that require an especially high level of confidentiality or direct control within their own local environment, Synspective will also enable direct downlink to a customer's own domestic ground station, addressing this wider range of needs.
Continuous Technology Updates: Under a model where a customer owns and operates its own satellites, the system is effectively locked into the technology available at the time of purchase and inevitably becomes outdated over time. Upgrading it requires another substantial investment. Under this program, Synspective will handle updates and replenishment with the latest generation of satellites, so customers have access to the most advanced observation and analysis capabilities throughout the contract period.
Access to Data Analysis Capabilities: This program is designed to integrate not only satellite constellation capacity, but also Synspective's core strength in SAR data analysis technology. Through the introduction and customization of analytics solutions tailored to their purpose, customers gain access not only to SAR data, but to information that directly supports their decision-making.
